History and Politics Teacher - Short Term Cover - Hillingdon, London

An outstanding secondary school based in Hillingdon is seeking a dynamic and experienced History and Politics Teacher for a short-term cover position starting from 12th May 2025. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-performing school until the end of the academic year, with the potential for extension.

About the Role: This is a full-time short-term position, with working hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm. The salary will be in line with the outer London MPS/UPS pay scale.

The school is easily accessible and offers parking for staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality History and Politics lessons that engage and challenge students at both GCSE and A-level.

  • Inspire students to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of historical and political events, both past and present.

  • Support students in preparing for their exams through structured lessons, effective revision techniques, and assessments.

  • Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and personal growth.

  • Collaborate with the department and wider school community to ensure a cohesive and effective curriculum is delivered.

  • Promote the ethos of the school, which prioritises academic excellence, respect, and personal development.

Qualifications and Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • A relevant degree in History, Politics, or a related subject

  • Proven experience teaching History and Politics at GCSE and A-level

  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and engage students

  • Friendly, approachable, and professional attitude
