Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time

Salary: £85 - £95 a day (depending on experience)

Start Date: January 2025

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team in Hackney, London. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a specific student with special educational needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis, ensuring their progress and well-being. This position is within a mainstream primary school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to a student with SEN, both in the classroom and during other activities.
  • Assist the student with their learning, ensuring they understand instructions and complete tasks to the best of their ability.
  • Adapt and modify materials and resources to meet the individual needs of the student.
  • Monitor and track the student's progress, recording observations and feedback for evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals involved in the student's education, such as speech therapists or occupational therapists, to ensure consistent support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering the student's independence and self-confidence.
  • Manage any behavioural issues that may arise, using appropriate strategies and techniques.
  • Ensure the student's safety and well-being at all times, taking into consideration any specific health or medical needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN, preferably in a 1:1 setting.
  • Strong understanding of various special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or speech and language difficulties.
  • Knowledge of different strategies and interventions to support students with SEN.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the student.
  • Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
