SEN Teaching Assistant - Northfield

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Primary Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join the team on a Part-time basis at a primary school based in Northfield. The successful candidate will be assigned to work 1:1 with a child in Key Stage 1 (KS1) who has specific learning needs. Your role will be to provide tailored support and assistance to this student, enabling them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with the class teacher and the school's SENCo to understand the individual needs of the student and implement appropriate support strategies.

Provide personalised support to the child in both academic and social settings, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Assist the student with tasks that may require additional help, including reading, writing, and numeracy activities.

Use your knowledge of various learning styles to adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the child's unique requirements.

Promote the student's independence and encourage their participation in class activities.

Monitor progress, record observations, and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.

Collaborate with other staff members and professionals to contribute to the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Requirements:

Level 2/3 childcare qualification

Relevant experience in supporting children with special needs, particularly in a primary school setting.

A compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine passion for helping young learners overcome challenges.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Knowledge of various special educational needs and different strategies to support them effectively.

The ability to adapt and be flexible in your approach to cater to the specific needs of the child.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
