Teaching Assistant

Location: Woolwich, London

Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (until at least July 2025)

Salary: £90-100 per day, increasing after 12 weeks

About the Role: SANZA Teaching Agency is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Woolwich. You will be working with a bright and motivated Year 6 student who is wheelchair-bound as well as providing classroom Teaching Assistant support. This rewarding, full-time position is based in a supportive and inclusive school in Woolwich, London, and will continue until at least July 2025.

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a Year 6 child who uses a wheelchair, ensuring their educational and personal needs are met.
  • You will assist with classroom tasks, adapting resources and providing support to ensure full accessibility for the student as their 1:1 Teaching Assistant.
  • Your role will include supporting the child with physical movement around the school, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times
  • You will collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement the child's individual learning plan, using your expertise as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide bespoke support.
  • As a Teaching Assistant, you will ensure the child can fully participate in all activities, working to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for their development.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with children who have physical disabilities or mobility challenges, is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students as their 1:1 Teaching Assistant.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCo, and other professionals to ensure the child's needs are met.
  • Relevant qualifications (such as NVQ/CACHE Level 2 in Childcare or SEN) are desirable but not essential.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment.
  • A flexible, caring, and attentive approach to your work as a Teaching Assistant.
